The Midwife- Tjaden Potter, CPM LM

I am a wife and mother to four children residing between Warrens and Tomah, WI. Outside of midwifery I love reading, getting in movement, and spending time among the plants and nature.

I had my first babies in the hospital, but I knew I wanted something different with my last pregnancy. I came to birth work after studying herbalism, and I knew once I met my midwife exactly what I wanted to do with the rest of my life. My experience was nothing less than eye-opening to the power and confidence a woman can have when she is given encouragement, individualized care, and is supported physiologically through the childbearing year. I have continued to see this truth in my time as a student and as a licensed midwife!

My Philosophy

It is my belief that childbearing can be an empowering and spiritual experience, that need not be feared. Women are innate in their own wisdom and carry with them the strength and intuition to birth and care for their children. I believe that midwifery care is safe and comprehensive, and I spend much of my time continuing to further my education and become a more well-rounded midwife.

I am honored to serve women and families and be a part of their journey. I am committed to respecting and protecting the birthing space of women and my goal is to provide my skills, time, care, attention, and support to help create memorable birthing experiences for mothers, families, and babies.

Midwives believe in being "with woman", the midwifery model of care is centered around relationship building, individualized client care, and informed decision making by the parents. It is my goal to provide with the knowledge and support to make your own decisions and to create a safe birthing environment outside of the system.

Midwives tend to invest a lot of time and attention to their clients, and as such have smaller practices than those who serve women from inside the hospital. Most midwives appreciate longer appointments, usually close to an hour in length and attempt to make care as personal and accessable to women as possible.
